CASABLANCA: Compatibility Test

We are all, to one degree or another, are suckers for a good romantic movie. We are all familiar with classics like ‘Casablanca’ or ‘Gone With The Wind’ or ‘From Here To Eternity’.

But why when watching a touching love story unfold in front of our eyes, one’s reaction is cold, while others, is a river of tears?

IMHO, the difference in our response is directly related to maternal and/or paternal love we experienced from birth. Thus, a person who was not expressively touched is a person with a troubled past where s/he did not experience emotional attachments to his/her parents, or in others words, s/he was not loved or was not loved enough.

To experience emotional response, one had to feel what love is. A fundamental parental bond and love. Affections shown by our parents from birth are directly responsible to what gets deposited in our subconscious memory bank. What develops our self-love and self-esteem. What is responsible to how much love we are capable of giving to others. A person who has never experienced innate love, has no love to give. Not to you, and moreover, not to your future kids.

So, if you are in a relationship, turn on Netflix, pick up a solid romantic film, and observe. Don’t interrupt, don’t comment, just notice your mate’s responses to emotionally touching scenes. The rest is in the hands of your intuition.
